PourOn Gravel Binder FAQ's

What is PourOn Gravel Binder?

PourOn is a polyurethane resin binder that you pour over loose, clean gravel. It coats the stones and cures to "glue" them together, creating a solid, stable, and permeable surface that looks like loose gravel but is hard-wearing and stays in place.

How strong is the finished surface?

It's incredibly strong. When applied correctly, the surface is durable enough for regular foot traffic.

Can I use my existing gravel?

Yes, provided the gravel is clean, dry, and free from dust, silt, and organic matter. We recommend power washing existing gravel and allowing it to dry completely before application for the best results.

What size of gravel is best?

We recommend using clean, dry aggregates between 10mm and 20mm in size. Angular stones provide the best interlock and strength. While you can use rounded pea shingle, it may require more binder and result in a slightly less robust finish.

Is the surface slippery when wet?

The textured nature of the bound gravel provides a good level of grip, making it more slip-resistant than smooth concrete or paving slabs.

How much do I need?

The ideal application rate depends on the expected use of the finished surface. We would recommend the following as a guide:
Decorative areas - 1.5kg/sqm

Footpaths - 2.0kg/sqm

Frequently trafficked footpaths - 3.0kg+/sqm

Is it easy to apply myself?

Absolutely. PourOn is designed for the DIY market. As long as you follow our application guide and video tutorials, you can achieve a professional finish without hiring a contractor.

How long does it take to cure?

It will be walkable in 12-24 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity.

Is it environmentally friendly?

Yes. The key benefit is its permeability, which allows rainwater to drain naturally into the ground below. This helps to reduce surface water runoff and is in line with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) principles.

Can I use it on a slope?

Yes, PourOn is an excellent solution for binding gravel on sloped driveways and paths, preventing the stones from washing away during heavy rain.
